P!ssed Off ^Surely that's the end of Akpan then.
Ship him out on loan in Jan, make way for the likes of Tish.

winchester_royal Tough game in atrocious conditions. Not many teams will come to Huddersfield and leave with 3 points so an excellent win. Ugly at times, but we played nicely in parts. Gorkss, Cummings and Pog the standouts..everyone else put a decent shift in. Akpan was predictably diabolical when he came on though. His air shot towards the end a particular lowlight.
About 50 of the fans were gr8, the rest were motionless.
Good stuff, not even close to perfect but this was never a day for pretty football, and we just about deserved it for the way we ground out the second half.

Shipping him out relies on someone wanting him. Unless Crawley come over all nostalgic (unlikely with the change of management) i can't fathom why anyone would have him.
On the flip side sounds like Cummings was good again. He keeps getting pushed down the order, but stays loyal and always finds a way back. He'll never be our best player, but i've got alot of time for him.

bobby1413 I didn't go today (plastic) but listened on radio (just like being there)
1 nil away at Huddersfield is an excellent result. It's one of those hard places to travel and could easily have been a boring. Draw or worse.

In very difficult conditions as well. Adkins got his tactics spot on today. Top result, and a struggling Wigan side next and a possible 4th win in 5.

LoyalRoyal22Ouroboros Diamond is a form of 4-4-2, moron.
No, they are still 2 different formations. WTF

Wigan are typically someone we could lose against.
New manager, low in table, shit away support. It's a home loss all over....
However maybe we learned the hard way against Bournemouth. As always, I remain positive.

How did my mancrush Jobi do? Sounded like he was a bit of a mixed bag still.
Were Dellor and Gooding right that the first half hour was diamond and then we switched back to a more conventional 4-4-2?
How's Drenthe's fitness looking?

Stop jerking that knee.
Two months ago people were saying they hoped Pog would never play for us again, now he's indispensable.
Akpan is young and has shown some decent promise at times, it's ridiculous to write him off after a couple of ropey sub performances.

Jobi did okay in a central role. I don't think he has the awareness to do it regularly, too often he was caught trying to run with the ball when it wasn't the right time to. But he kept the team going to the end and got us out of trouble a few times. A good captain's performance from a guy who's in his last few good months is how I'd describe his contribution.
We started off with the 4-3-1-2 diamond formation which just didn't work for me. We didn't have the midfield trio to produce the slick passing football needed to make it work, and Huddersfield got all sorts of joy down the flanks in the first half. I didn't notice the switch until the start of the second half, but we looked much better as a flat 4-4-2.
Drenthe struggled to get into the game first half playing just behind the striker, but tbf to the lad he put himself about a fair bit and it was his run that led to the goal. Doesn't look close to fully fit but did a decent job and still produces the odd moment of quality.
