Yeah he did, but at the same time Paisley and Liverpool were doing alright (Paisley won 3 European Cups afterall), it was just uncomfortable apparently. I've read somewhere that Shankly used to turn up and start taking training sometimes!

Busby on the other hand, hung around officially and was made a Director at United. He was at games and was around the place all the time the likes of McGuinness struggled to take over from Busby and make the team his own. Much more like Fergie's current relationship to Moyes if you ask me.

The first post has little to do with how United will fare, its about how Ferguson will fare. I think, in that case, Shankly is probably a good possible example to cite.

The second post, somewhat inevitably, doesn't really follow from the first and is a bit confused but ... one post at a time with TCF.

If the first post had focused more on United, then I fully agree that Busby would be the single most relevant example to cite.

I thought Fergie had also been given some role at United as well, and is there alongside the likes of Bobby Charlton as an ambassador or something? Shankly was coming along univited I believe, even to games.

Why would you want a lamp in the middle of a table anyway? You'd have to lean right across the table to turn it on and off

I suppose it depends on size, shape and purpose of table. Coffee table I suppose you'd push up against a wall and have the lamp in the middle at the back.
