Mr Angry Malky MacKay appointed as Wigan manager.

Apparently Wigan insisted on there being a clause that if he is found guilty in the current racism/homophobic/antisemitic text investigation, then they get to termin8 his contract.

Could be a short stint

Would have been cheaper not to employ him at all.

could be interesting if MM turns their season around, gets the love of the players and the fans..............................then gets found guilty

Can anyone tell me what text messages MM sent, to result in Wigan's shirt sponsor pulling out of their deaL?

I just can't understand why a club, especially one like Wigan, would employ MM.

It's surely hassle, problematic, poor publicity, needless attention, stress...

The positives are virtually nil

There are other managers they surely could have gotten.

I don't really get it.

MM is a good manager at that level and all things aside, could do a good job for Wigan.

Why on earth the FA haven't sorted their investigation yet and cleared this mess up, I don't know. It's almost as if they want to look stupid.

So MM did something wrong, has apologised, and is being investigated. Why a sponsor is getting their knickers in a twist is beyond me - how much of an impact is it actually likely to have on their business?

I assume none, but getting in the national news for a few days for 'doing the right thing' will probably have quite a positive impact on their business.

Also means they can get away from paying to be on the shirt of a club who's profile & awareness has dropped massively in the last 12 months and they can start sponsoring someone else

Lets face it, ^^^^ is what its all about.

Their logo is already on the shirt in photos and stuff and now they have a found a nice way to get out of their contract

Incidently, did anyone hear the long interview 5live had with MM? It was very honest and he talked about going on diversity training and that he'll continue to do so, so that he can become a better person.

Seemed fair enough to me, and he should absolutely be given a chance. Having a mental old man reel out every old man racial stereotype has now made it all worse. Why oh why did Whelan try and defend him? Rather than just say that he did wrong and is trying to move on?
