Royal Rother In his own words Drax Hippolyte 90% certain NOT to be Maidenhead's manager next season.

Only discovered yesterday that he was probably going at the end of the season. Not really that surprised, he had higher expectations this season than just battling relegation and I got the distinct impression at the end of last season that if they had a repeat of last season again then he'd be off.

I know something like 75% of fans want him gone but still sad and the end of an era. This season has been a disappointment but to achieve promotion in your first season (2006-2007) against the odds with an incredible McDermott style run and then keep Maidenhead at Conf S level for 8 years (assuming they don't go down this season) is a really good achievement. If he does go it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Agreed, with not much money about then place they'll always struggle against the drop, though perhaps a new face would freshen things up for the club and supporters and a change for Drax to club with a little more "clout" would be good for all.

Some interesting names being banded about Stripes on Saturday.

Anyone care to hazard a guess on how much Drax earns :?: I was quite surprised myself.

Not far off. £400 a week for what is basically Saturdays and a couple of evenings. Apparently he fits kitchens as a day job.

I'd always assumed he was full time and on c.£35K

My source wouldn't confirm any of the names who've applied thus far but some are "bigger than you'd expect" - given our proximity to London and spotless history of actually paying our staff and players we're apparently a fairly attractive prospective employer

That amount doesn't shock any Windsor fans...average players were rumoured to be on that at a lower level!

There sure does seem to be a lot of money and ambition around Maidenhead at the moment but it's obviously not sustainable. Guessing all that family guy money is coming in

Still, as far as I know, out of football since leaving Windsor, Keith Scott must surely be a contender.

Working on Three counties radio doing the Wycombe games Rother.

I know he was genuinely in the race to get the Wycombe job at one point but didn't get it. Absolutely no chance of any reputable club taking him on now.

...tomorrows' local NL matches - bigger round up on Monday when some title issues may become clearer - Wokingham & Emmbrook are in touching distance of Hellenic Div One East - if they win they could be 'crowned' on Monday evening when the only other club who can thwart them, 3rd placed Old Woodstock Town, must beat their landlords Henley Town. Even then, OWT are not in a position to go up on ground grading - Brackley 'Dev' may be promoted still, even though they are a 2nd string.
Sumas still have a few more fixtures to confirm top spot though.

yesterday's NL round-up

Saturday 4th April

CONFP
Woking 2-2 Welling United
CONFS
Bishops Stortford 2-1 St Albans City
Bromley 2-1 Boreham Wood
Eastbourne Borough 1-0 Concord Rangers
Farnborough 1-4 Wealdstone
Gosport Borough 1-1 Weston-Super-Mare
Hayes & Yeading Utd 0-1 Basingstoke Town - late winner Chris Flood on 87'
Hemel Hempstead Town 1-1 Maidenhead United - Magpies also level on 87'
Staines Town 1-2 Havant & Waterlooville
Sutton United 1-0 Chelmsford City
CONFN
Brackley Town 0-1 Solihull Moors
Oxford City 0-0 Boston United

SOUTHP
Arlesey Town 2-3 Hungerford Town - Crusaders still in with a good chance of the Play Offs - sat in 6th place one point behind St Neots.
Burnham 0-3 Banbury United
Dunstable Town 3-2 Chesham United
Slough Town 3-3 St Neots Town
SOUTH1C
Aylesbury United 0-4 Hanwell Town
Aylesbury 3-1 North Greenford United
Bedworth United 2-3 Uxbridge
Chalfont St Peter 3-1 St Ives Town
Daventry Town 2-2 Beaconsfield SYCOB
Egham Town 1-3 Barton Rovers
Godalming Town 0-3 Leighton Town
Marlow 3-0 AFC Hayes - all three in the first 10'
Rugby Town 2-1 Northwood
SOUTH1S&W
AFC Totton 1-1 North Leigh
Bashley 0-5 Didcot Town
Bishops Cleeve 0-3 Yate Town
Fleet Town 4-2 Wimborne Town
Wantage Town 0-3 Larkhall Athletic
- Fleet's win relegates 'Bash' - Bps Cleeve still 7 points adrift with 4 games remaining - and host Champions elect Merthyr on Monday.

CCLP
Ashford Town 2-2 Knaphill
Chertsey Town 3-3 Frimley Green
Cove 2-0 Windsor

Epsom & Ewell 2-1 Colliers Wood United
Farnham Town 1-1 Bedfont Sports
Guildford City 1-4 Camberley Town
Hartley Wintney 1-3 Westfield

Molesey 0-1 Hanworth Villa
Raynes Park Vale 2-3 Horley Town
Spelthorne Sports 1-0 Mole Valley SCR
- highly probable that Windsor will not finish above 5th with defeat at Squirrels Lane. Above them a surprise set-back for Molesey against basement club Hanworth Villa gives further example of this divisions' occasional 'upside-down' nature. Moles still have 2 games in hand over leaders Camberley but remain 4 points behind in 2nd. Cove and Ashford Town still in touching distance should the top two stumble further.
Not certain about this season's relegation numbers - is always dependent upon whose coming down from Ryman South - but the likely candidates are Guildford and Frimley G. - with Knaphill, Hanworth Villa and Mole Valley still in considerable danger of the drop.

CCL1
AFC Croydon Athletic 1-0 Staines Lammas
Alton Town 1-4 Bedfont & Feltham
CB Hounslow United 0-1 Farleigh Rovers
Cobham 0-1 Banstead Athletic
Dorking 3-2 Sheerwater
Epsom Athletic 1-4 Eversley & California
Worcester Park 1-1 Chessington & Hook United

HELLP
Challenge Cup Q-F
Longlevens AFC 0-1 Ascot United aet - 'Yellamen' drawn to host Flackwell Heath in the S-F - date tba - other S-F sees Ardley travel to Div One Rayners Lane.
Supplementary Cup Q-F
Easington Sports {SEVEN} 7-1 Kidlington - minor surprise as the last Premier side exits the competition but doubt Kiddy were too bothered about their continuing participation in the 'Losers' Cup. Other three Q-F's to be played this week: all feature Div One sides - with Henley hosting Lydney Town on Thursday evening.
HELLP
Abingdon United 0-0 Ardley United
Cheltenham Saracens 0-6 Flackwell Heath - Heathens go past 100 league goals for the season - have 5 games remaining to get four more points required for the title and overhaul H/I who've completed their fixtures. Might happen by this Wednesday; as they visit Holyport on B/H Monday and then RTFC at Scours on Wednesday evening. Their following two games are against (almost certainly) relegated pair Cheltenham Saracens (again) and Shrivenham - finishing off on Wed 22nd April with a trip to Cirencester to play WBT.
I believe they have a Semi-Final & potentially two (or even three) Cup Final appearances to fit within this time too - though perhaps the Hellenic Challenge Cup could be held back to may if they can't get it played on w/e 25th/26th.

Highmoor Ibis 4-0 Binfield
Highworth Town 5-0 Holyport
Thame United 2-3 Brimscombe & Thrupp
Wootton Bassett Town 2-2 Oxford City Nomads
HELL1E
Didcot Town Res 4-4 Henley Town
Rayners Lane 2-0 Finchampstead
Wokingham & Emmbrook 0-0 Brackley Town 'Dev' - att 85 - biggest crowd in the Hellenic yesterday - Sumas have 4 games remaining to get 4 points to confirm title.

WESSP
Whitchurch United 1-1 Totton & Eling
WESS1
Andover New Street 2-1 Hythe & Dibden
Pewsey Vale 2-5 Tadley Calleva

... a preview of B/H Monday games to follow soon; along a with a further summary of play-off & relegation issues that I've not touched on above - where possible. :?

I didn't get to the Windsor game yesterday due to son swimming in Portsmouth Fri/Sat/Sun - neutral reports say we played some really nice football but couldn't put the ball in the net.

The Molesey v HVilla result was even more unexpected seeing as HV had one of their usual strikers in goal, and another at right back!

Monday's game at Stag Meadow is FREE Entry for all, 11.30 KO. Rumour is that finally the new kit will be worn for the 1st time, 18+ months after the initial unveiling. We shall see...

... me and the lad are likely to try for two. I'm going to see if I still have the energy left for Mill Lane when I get home.
I plan to watch the 'Sumas' play there soon anyway, so may leave it for Tuesday evening - when Wok. & Emm. play Rayners Lane.
The early KOs in prime position tomorrow, are currently one from: Mole Valley, Knaphill or Tring Corinthians - better 2nd match choices @ 15:00 following the first two of course - providing the M3/A3 is co-operating. Plans can often go astray if the major roads are badly snarled up  but if we are heading SW hopefully we'll be opposite to the main flow of folks returning from their Easter Breaks .....

Almost worth the entrance fee ( free) to laugh at that!

If you want to cringe here is a youtube video 'hyping' up the new kit https://youtu.be/XgN0dsIZLW4

Man oh man you're a negative old git. The video is an excellent and amusing promotional piece.

Looked great today, even the old codgers like you were saying "actually it's not as bad as I was thinking". And the Chertsey singer-fans who showed up in pretty decent numbers didn't come up with a chant about the kit (that I could make out anyway).

I think it's already been accepted. It's just another kit, nothing to get het up about.

And the team put in one of their really good performances and a 5-1 win, so all good.

Apparently Hayes and Yeading have been handed 300k to help them move into their ground by christmas. A total mess made of 2 clubs but looks like that saga is coming to an end!

8 goal thriller at York Road yesterday including a last gasp equaliser for the black n whites. My last visit to York Road this season and went some small way to making up for the utterly miserable experience it's generally been this year.

Round up of the results in 'local' NL:-

Monday 6th April Easter Monday

CONFP
Aldershot Town 2-0 Torquay United
Dover Athletic 2-1 Woking - Cards fall to last minute pen
CONFN
Stockport County 1-2 Oxford City
CONFS
Basingstoke Town 3-1 Farnborough - very tight at the top 2 points separate leading four - 'Dragons ' have a game in hand over current leaders Boreham Wood.
Boreham Wood 2-0 Sutton United
Chelmsford City 4-2 Bishops Stortford
Concord Rangers 0-1 Hemel Hempstead Town
Havant & Waterlooville 2-0 Bath City
Maidenhead United 4-4 Bromley
St Albans City 3-0 Eastbourne Borough
Wealdstone 0-1 Ebbsfleet United
Weston-Super-Mare 1-2 Staines Town
Whitehawk 2-0 Hayes & Yeading Utd

SOUTHP
Chesham United 2-0 Burnham
Hungerford Town 2-0 Slough Town
- Crusaders up to 4th!
SOUTH1C
AFC Hayes 4-1 Egham Town
Aylesbury 0-0 Aylesbury United att 526
Beaconsfield SYCOB 3-1 Marlow
Godalming Town 0-1 Uxbridge
Leighton Town 1-1 Chalfont St Peter
North Greenford United 1-0 Northwood
- SYCOB’s win v Marlow effectively relegates North Greenford and AFC Hayes; who both won yesterday
SOUTH1S&W
Evesham United 5-2 Wantage Town - Freds two up early on - seriously capitulated 2nd half :(
Fleet Town 2-1 AFC Totton – was at this one – last minute penalty sees Fleet safe for another year and Bps Cleeve’s demolition at Pennydarren Park also means Freds only need a point to stay up too – Cleeve’s three remaining games are winnable, so Wantage will need to overcome Wimborne or grapple for something out of trips to Taunton or Sholing.

Merthyr Town {NINE} 9-0 Bishops Cleeve
North Leigh 2-2 Didcot Town
Sholing 4-2 Bashley

CCLP
Bedfont Sports 0-2 Ashford Town (Middx)
Camberley Town 2-0 Badshot Lea
Frimley Green 1-3 Farnham Town

Hanworth Villa 0-0 Spelthorne Sports
Horley Town 1-0 Epsom & Ewell
Knaphill 2-1 Hartley Wintney
Mole Valley SCR 2-1 Molesey
- Managed to pop up the M3 for this – in spite of Holiday traffic seriously f£cking up the M25 in both directions and of course the roadworks back down the M3 scotched major plans for getting some lunch before the 2nd match at Fleet. MVSCR thoroughly deserved the win over their higher placed visitors – whose title challenge is fizzling out badly as Camberley bulldoze ever onwards, off into the sunset
Westfield 2-2 Guildford City
Windsor 5-1 Chertsey Town

CCL1
Alton Town 2-0 Cobham
Banstead Athletic 3-3 Worcester Park
Chessington & Hook United 3-2 Dorking
Farleigh Rovers 2-1 AFC Croydon Athletic - think FR are promoted but would need to go and groundshare at Whyteleafe FC to step up.

HELLP
Bracknell Town 2-0 Binfield att 206
Holyport 0-1 Flackwell HeathHeathens need just one point from their last 4 matches for the title.
Kidlington 3-3 Ardley United
Milton United 0-1 Abingdon United
Oxford City Nomads 4-1 Thame United
Reading Town PP Ascot United - RTFC players reportedly refuse to play until expenses owing are paid
Shrivenham 0-6 Highworth Town
Thatcham Town 1-1 Newbury att 215 –mercifully Newbury manage to cobble together an XI for their big derby – they too are struggling badly for players and have reportedly asked to drop into the North Berks league for next season. Sad times; Faraday Road is one of the more popular venues in the Hellenic – also some rumours that Housing developers are sniffing about too.

Wootton Bassett Town 4-1 Brimscombe & Thrupp
HELL1W
Carterton 0-1 Letcombe - villagers have three games left to try and escape bottom place - courtesy of two successive league wins - something I doubt they've achieved in many a month. Fairford Town the likeliest targets to be overhauled: they only have one game left of a very disappointing campaign - away at high-flyers Ciren Development.
UPDATE - which they (Fairford Town) lost tonight 2-1

HELL1E
Burnham Res 0-3 Penn & Tylers Green
Chalfont Wasps 2-4 Chinnor
Didcot Town Res 0-1 Headington Amateurs
Henley Town 3-1 Old Woodstock Town - Henley do their lodgers (Wokingham & Emmbrook) a huge favour in the late game by knocking OWT out (!) of the title race for Div One East – a win at Mill Lane tonight (Tue) for Sumas vs Rayners Lane would ensure they need only 1 more point for the champions spot.
About to head over there myself ….. 8)
UPDATE - saw Sumas get a fairly routine 5-0 win over a neat but inexperienced looking Rayners Lane in front of a crowd of 76 - visitors simply couldn't organise an effective defence and were 4-0 down at H/T.

WESSP,
Whitchurch United 2-1 Andover Town
Winchester City
5-1 Alresford Town
WESS1
Andover New Street 4-2 Romsey Town
Tadley Calleva 4-1 Fleet Spurs
