KC Royal Forgot to post in here, Margate won their playoff final :)

Hope I can make the Margate-Maidenhead game, Maidenhead haven't had a closer game to me in the 8 years they've been in Conf South and I've thought about going to Margate in the past anyway, so it would be ideal.

Anyone know when the fixtures usually come out?

Thanks. Not sure how doable that is for me. A postponement may be better...

... a couple of interesting scores from Sat

Basingstoke Town 1-2 Aldersh!t
Brackley Town 0-3 Northampton Town ( Maunsell Cup Final )
... went to this - chosen as it was a 'proper' match - they even did a programme!

- not much info in it on any previous rounds if indeed they had enough entrants to have earlier rounds. Of late the Northants FA have been hard-pressed to even get 4 senior clubs to enter - persuaded 'over the border' Posh to go for it in recent season's.
Was a good game between STEP02 and FL2 - biggest difference was how evidently the 'Cobblers' turned the game from off the pitch. Coaching staff saw they were being overrun and outpassed early on, so jiggled the midfield, pressed further up the pitch and Brackley started to make errors. Lawson D'Ath played about an hour down the left - did &^%$ all.

Flackwell Heath 2-3 Hayes & Yeading
Sandhurst 2-3 Wokingham & Emmbrook
Whitchurch United 1-4 Milton Town
Windsor 1-1 Burnham

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
... and here's some of tomorrow night's (Tue 28th) offerings round here:
Abingdon Town v Milton United
Kane Jones finally moved on from Windsor - pitching up at Burnham it seems against whom he played his last game for us, during which he irritated one of their players so much he sent him flying and earned himself a red card.
I'd imagine they had a pleasant reunion last week.
Talented player but a total dickhead on the pitch who behaves with the petulance of a 10 year old.
Good riddance.
..righto ladies - here we go - silly pre-season stuff pretty much out of the way - the real thing kicks off today (unless of course you're a N.Baaarks adherent - in which case you'll have to wait until early September!) :?
.... usual twiddly bits if I get time to do them - news snippets if I think they are worth sharing/remarking upon:
- vaguely 'local' sides in bold - games featuring reserve sides in italics - lesser cup games in green
Anything in blue is likely to be my inane personal ramblings so you are at liberty to gloss over. :mrgreen:
(Proposals for any other clubs to be included welcome - as long as the league isn't too obscure i.e. I've occasionally stuck in Guernsey and Falmouth in previous season's - but there are limits to where my anorak will function.)
Enjoy! ... and if you've not delved below the FL before - give it a go. Invariably the clubs are run by splendid people who give up vast swathes of their personal time and energy, to ensure local football thrives/endures (don't like the term 'grassroots') - and they welcome newcomers. Most places can do a serviceable 'refreshment' too.
BUT avoid people like me - I always try to - nothing worse than a gaggle of hopper-types loafing around chatting amongst themselves about all of the quirky matches/incidents/journeys/real ales etc - usually with their back to the action ignoring the game altogether!
... and they often hoover up all of the programmes too - and get highly agitated if they can't get one!
'boro are due to start in the Ryman/Isthmian Premier but have had their first two matches postponed by the league, pending issue of a Bond as evidence they have secured their short-term financial future - non-returnable if they default during the season - general view this week is they may not play at all in 15-16 - so Camberley might have a semi-vacant stadium to 'borrow after all! 8)
Kidlington 2-1 Thatcham Town
Longlevens AFC 0-1 Highmoor-Ibis
... got to this OK - in spite of 'nasties' beyond Sw!nedon on the M4 - took more direct route up past Cirencester on A417. Nice basic layout ground on the northern bit of Gloucester - Saw Mills is easy to find, very close to the A417 just past the M5. Anyone going better check which of their two grounds they are using - they have another one - sited with their Social Club not far away to the north - inside the loop of the A40.
Surprisingly low turnout - official crowd given as 35 - below last years normal average (I discounted the crowd (160+) they drew in for their match v local rivals Tuffley Rovers from south of the City ) tbf H/I had a smattering of their followers in the crowd - presumably not a great deal of 'çasual' interest here, deep in egg-chasing country. The STEP02 club [Gloucester City] are still playing up at Cheltenham and were at home to FCUM this PM, so maybe they pulled the 'occasionals' away. Aforementioned Tuffley did attract nearly 70 for the visit of Ascot though.
H/I found this hard-going - against strong but limited opponents - strictly long-ball and lots of running. Was a hot day on a dry dusty bobbly surface and Marcus's charges looked distinctly disinterested. They were evidently more accomplished with the ball but didn't seem prepared to work hard enough in the conditions. Quality response from the big man'' though - worked out he'd have to battle for the points so deployed two 'big lumps'of his own, off the bench - which included himself of course. :wink: His years of experience told - with immediate effect - tussled under a high ball pumped in, knocked it down for his fellow sub (Robinson) to drive home
Lydney Town 1-3 Flackwell Heath
Milton United 0-1 Thame United
Royal Wootton Bassett 1-1 Brackley Town Saints - att 99 at their brand new ground just to the north of the town
Tuffley Rovers 1-2 Ascot Utd - :oops: not sure how I missed this one on the preview- new league results website (FullTime) probably caught me out! Apols to the 'Yellamen' fans out there.
HELL1E
Bicester Town 0-0 Finchampstead
Chinnor 1-2 Headington Amateurs - Chinnor playing at Abingdon Town's, Culham Rd for the first half of this season whilst their clubhouse is being re-built. Brings much needed income to the Abbots too, who dropped down to N.Berks last season for a recuperative spell.
Didcot Town Res 1-4 Rayners Lane
Henley Town 0-1 Wantage Town Res'
Old Woodstock Town 2-1 Woodley United
Penn & Tylers Green 3-1 Holyport
Reading Town 1-3 Chalfont Wasps
HELL1W
Cheltenham Saracens 4-1 Letcombe
Shrivenham 1-2 Fairford Town
WESSP
Moneyfields 1-2 Andover Town
Whitchurch United 0-2 Lymington Town
WESS1
Alton Town 2-1 Pewsey Vale
Fleet Spurs 1-6 Portland United
Romsey Town 1-3 Tadley Calleva
...elsewhere an astonishing crowd for STEP05 in the Midland League for Hereford v Dunkirk - over 4000 in for the phoenix club. 4-1 win for the home side - hat-trick from John Mills - recently departed from Diddy. Just to deepen the gloom for the Railwaymen perhaps - other goal came from Pablo Haysham.
Danny Green scored for Margate yesterday. Think he's ex Maidenhead which will make the Margate-Maidenhead games interesting this season!
Alex Wall got a goal and an assist in Bromley's 3-1 win over Wrexham :shock: Not a bad debut! Ex Royal Pierre Joseph-Dubois has also been at Bromley for a while now.
The reformed Hereford got 4060 in for their season opener. Not bad for a 9th tier game.
Yes Danny Green was at Maidenhead last season as was Margate team mate Dave Hunt who was sent off on Saturday.
... been a full mid-week of 'local' NL - here's some of the stand-out scores:
NATIONAL
Chelt'num 0-0 Sh!ts
Eastleigh 1-0 Boreham Wd - Constable on 91'
Woking 2-0 Brommers
NATIONAL-South
Basingstoke 1-2 Bath
Maidenhead 4-1 Bps Stortford - Magpies soaring :D - joint top with Concord
(MON) StAlebuns 1-3 Oxford City
Truro 0-2 Hayes & Yeading
NATIONAL-North
FCUM 1-2 Stockport County - att 3199
Nuneaton 1-0 Brackley - Marlon Harewood scores for Boro - Reading lad Deon Burton comes for visitors as a sub - (@ ripe ol' age of 38)
SOUTHERN Premier
Bigg. Town 5-1 Sluff :shock:
(MON) Hungerford 0-0 Poole
One- Central
Beaconsfield 2-0 Kings Langley
One-South & West
AFC Totton 2-2 Wantage - very welcome 1st point for the Freds :)
(MON) Burnham 0-1 North Leigh - was at this - North Leigh very impressive - 'Blues' lots of new faces; Suarez/Whitty from Binfield and aforementioned Kane Jones from Windsor. Latter ran around a lot to little effect - had no impact on a fairly imperious Nor Lye back line - got a full-blooded clearance right in the 'happy-sacks' 1st Half and seemed somewhat muted from then on....natural hilarity all round especially as the Burnham lady physio was somewhat non-plussed as to how to treat his injury!! :twisted:
Bashley 1-5 Larkhall
Didcot 5-1 Bps Cleeve - 2nd half hat-trick for (CB ? & Skipper) Carnell - both last years whipping boys Cleeve and Bash - having somehow dodged relegation - continuing where they left off.
Marlow 1-1 Banbury
Wimborne 5-6 {SIX} Winchester City - :o :o :o :o bewildering sequence of goals too - suffice it to say City have scored 13 goals in 2 games back at this level and Bentley has notched 9 of them - 8 before HT - he must tire easily :mrgreen: !
Combined Counties Premier
(MON) SCR 1-5 RPV - groundshare experiment for Sutton Common not working out so far, two defeats in two at Gander Green Lane
Badshot Lea 4-7 {SEVEN} Hartley Wintney
Spelthorne 1-3 Camberley Town - normal service resumed perhaps?
Cove 0-2 Westfield
Windsor 1-1 Bedfont Sports
Div One
Sandhurst 2-2 Abbey Rangers
Hellenic Premier
Ardley United 0-2 Longlevens AFC
Ascot United 1-0 Highmoor-Ibis
Brimscombe & Thrupp 4-2 Lydney Town
Flackwell Heath 3-2 Bracknell Town - Burnell and Bowerman for 'Heathens' - Robins Twitter NOT too happy about the officiating
Highworth Town 5-0 Tuffley Rovers
Thame United 1-2 Binfield - good result for much changed Moles - Senussi and Horscroft the scorers; ex-RTFC Nathan Silver between the sticks
Thatcham Town 6-2 Abingdon United - new boys amongst the goals for 'Kingfishers': 2 for Baines 1 for Mealing
Wokingham & Emmbrook 0-0 Milton United
Div One East
Chinnor 5-1 RTFC - my Tuesday choice - played at one of my fave ground's Abingdon Town's Culham Rd. Chinnor are playing here as lodgers until their clubhouse is rebuilt - should return home around January time.
I spent a pleasant evening in the company of another 'local' hopper that I encounter regularly at N.Berks/S.Oxon games - he supports Pompey but in spite of that he's a good lad :? ! Goes everywhere by public transport too - delighted that a recent change of job, releases him to get to Saturday matches for the first time in quite a while.
Very different RTFC line-up who have serious on and off field issues. Their dugout simmered just below boiling throughout and there were many harsh words exchanged amongst them, their players and a few of their club officials who were there in attendance - they are NOT a happy bunch!
Chinnor did the bare minimum to completely blow them away and could have racked up double-figures. Having said that - Town's goal was the best of the night: a lovely 6-7 man flowing move- so perhaps some little hope for the Scours Lane boys. They'll need to learn fast and pray their owners keep patience.
WESSEX Premier
Salisbury 1-2 Whitchurch United - Wow ! :P Bet no-one saw that one coming - will have to have a trawl around for a report of this - expect the crowd was pretty huge for this league too. Maybe the 'Whites' haven't had the cash to splash like fellow giants (Hereford) also playing well down the Pyramid
...a few games on tonight (Wed) considering Guildford v Farnham or OC Nomads v Royal Wootton Bassett. Though there's a 'big' Wilts derby available (Calne v Devizes) but I don't want to push my luck on the M4 down that way - its been a complete &^%$ - this month in particular.
Huuuge w/e ahead too with the FA Cup Extra Prelim spread across Fri-Sun - more later....... 8)
... went for this: on the SE outskirts of Brizzle - completes all of the Western Premier for me, apart from the four 'long-range' clubs which I would only normally do if on hols down in Devon/Daaarset. Actually could have included Div One but Chipping Sodbury have joined the league this season - besides the additional four remote clubs there too.
Nice basic STEP05 ground - good clubhouse acceptable ale and food and quite a lively tussle - home side reduced to 9 men 2nd half but rallied to grab a shock winner. Will host Cinderford in the next round. Back home and indoors by 18:20.
...plenty more 'local action' this midweek - more or less full program in our main NL leagues (Southern/CCL/Hellenic) together with a smattering of FA Cup replays
Tonight: (Mon) not much on - will be hoping the A322/M3/M25 behaves, as I'm attempting to nip up to a new CCL1 team that play nr Chertsey/Addlestone - a couple of gear changes down beyond M25 jn 11:
CCL1 Abbey Rangers v Staines Lammas - went a couple of years ago with youngest for a County League level early starter - be interesting to see what they've done to uplift the facilities to join STEP06. tbf they already had a pretty plush clubhouse.
.... in Southern Premier Hungerford have a tough trip to Redditch
Tue: - just a pick 'n mix of a busy night's games :
NATS
Bath City v Maidenhead Utd
Hayes & Yeading Utd v Havant & Waterlooville
Oxford City v Basingstoke Town
SOUTHP
Slough Town v Histon
SOUTH1C
Fleet Town v Beaconsfield SYCOB
Kings Langley v Egham Town
Uxbridge v Chalfont St Peter
SOUTH1S&W
Banbury United v Burnham
Mangotsfield Utd v Didcot Town
Wantage Town v Bashley
CCLP
Ashford Town (Middx) v Spelthorne Sports
Bedfont Sports v Sutton Common Rovers
Camberley Town v Cove
Chertsey Town v Horley Town
Hanworth Villa v Windsor
Hartley Wintney v Guildford City
Knaphill v Redhill
HELLP
Flackwell Heath v Brackley Town Saints
Kidlington v Ascot United - quick opportunity for the Yellamen to get some revenge for being dumped out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle. Though Kiddy are many people's tip for the title this season - as they tend to be every year
Milton United v Highmoor-Ibis - Marcus will want to stop the early rot here, having lost league and Cup games in succession.
Thatcham Town v Bracknell Town - 'Robins' buoyed by a good win on Sat in the Cup but Thatcham are looking strong so far this season.
WESSP
Andover Town v Salisbury
...will make a late decision about which of these to plump for - may even consider:
FA Cup Extra Prelim. Replays
19:30 KO Westfield v Binfield
Farnham Town v Thame Utd
... whilst Whitchurch Utd have a long trip down west for their replayed tie at Wincanton.
Wed: - probably one of :
SOUTH1S&W
Winchester City v Marlow or
HELLP
RWBT v Ardley Utd
...elsewhere Chesham travel to Camb City in the Southern Prem and in 1 S&W North Leigh host new lads Slimbridge
Rumours of unrest at Camberley, with a bust up in the changing room after their exit from the FA Cup on Saturday.
The exceptionally honest / blunt Rob Lazarczuk (recently departed from non-wage paying Windsor for big payers Camberley) thought likely to have been the catalyst.
Hanworth Villa 6-0 Windsor
Well well well.
Admittedly both Windsor's central defenders were injured pre game - one at work and the other, Captain Adam Kirby, in the warm up, but that would have made little difference to the result in my opinion.
Hanworth Villa are the best team I've seen in this league since Guernsey. The speed of their front players was ridiculous. And skilful. Put that together with clinical finishing and a strong defence and quite frankly I'll be gobsmacked if they don't win this league at a canter. (On the assumption the squad stays together of course.)
All but 2 of their players have been at Villa at some stage during the last 2 seasons with 2 coming in from higher levels. I know they had a lot of unrest last season and were barely able to field a team at one stage but it looks like they've got it together at the moment. In a big way. If there's been a tendency in the past, maybe they'll self combust again...
They actually got relegated from this league last season but had a late reprieve after the various non-promotions / unsuitable grounds etc. etc. were factored in.
Ok, we were poor and missed our defenders but I don't believe we are that bad a team.
Awesome performance.
Hartley Wintney won 5-0 last night to also maintain maximum points and are being tipped by those who have seen them.
Horley too have looked formidable.
Sounds like everyone else has improved while Windsor have possibly gone a step or 2 backwards. Squads change so much during the course of the season but right now it's hard to see us challenging the top 3. (Some are saying not even the top half.)
