TBM
CountryRoyal Hope he gets a terrible reception from us on the 12th.

Considering he got that when he played for us, I'm guessing this is a given

You'll get a granny saying "without his goals we'd be much lower"...etc etc

The positive in all this might be the end of HRK up front

No no it's Nick Blackman we've sold, not just a black man

As long as the clauses to get the the full £3m or whatever it is aren't ridiculous, that's a cracking deal for us. Think we'll be a better team without him.

good deal for probably the wrong reasons - at least we have increased the %age of loan players in the squad for the time being. nothing like making challenging for mid table obscurity more interesting.........

I work with a number of Derby fans. Tomorrow's going to be interesting (but then they thought Pearce was a good signing too until I educated them)

Esteban
The Prisoner Know one of his friends. He doesn't want to go. Happy here, but not been offered a new contract. This is the club shipping him out. Simples.

Wasn't going to bother posting this as it's so tenuous and I'm sceptical of it, but since we're talking about people who know him..

A mate of mine is close to one of Gareth McCleary's friends (I did say it was tenuous). The "information" he was given, is that Blackman wants a new contract that is more than double his current one, plus bonuses. Given his headline grabbing form this season and we know there are clubs in the Championship willing to pay big wages, you couldn't blame him for trying, if it's true. However, that's got to be more than we could stretch to.

I'll quailfy this by saying that the guy my mate knows is a current professional who played with McCleary at Forest. That doesn't make the rumour any more reliable, of course.

If this is true (wanting twice what he has) then selling him now is the best thing for the club. I think Reading have a better track record of selling or letting go of "stars" that end up as bench warmers elsewhere. With Blackman's well-known selfish attitude and recent display this weekend, maybe the end of his time at the club has come.

But I definitely don't like selling to another c'ship side. Is it typical to have provision that does not allow him to play against us (at least this season)?

I look forward to the next 48 hours when we name our new striker, as we wouldn't have let Blackman go if we didn't have a replacement ready to come in, after all that would be pretty stupid wouldn't it ???

You'll be in for a shock then as we won't replace him. After all its the Reading Way.
