NathStPaul Should we lose heavily tonight the protest on Saturday will be ramped up. I think the protest could be what sends Paunovic on gardening leave until his contract is up. I don't think he will be outright sacked but I do see him being replaced with Gilkes in the short term.

Ok

I will lose less words next time, you clearly struggle.

No struggle just couldn’t think of a more wordy reply to that. The ‘protest’ will be a damp squib and the owners have known our plight for weeks and weeks

I would agree that it will be should we win tonight, it would leave the protest in a very difficult place. You will essentially be protesting against a manager who has just taken us away from the relagation zone and creating bad feeling before our 150th celebrations. You'll see a lot of potential protestors backing out of it.
Should we lose tonight a lot of people on the fence about protesting will go along with it I reckon, seen a few saying as much on social media. I'd go as far as to say that there are a few who probably want us to lose tonight to justify the protests.

Agree re tonight’s result having a big bearing on the near term view from some fans. I still think even a loss tonight will see an embarrassing one man and his dog protest on Saturday

Win, lose or draw it doesn’t change the fact the manager needs to go and the club needs to be aware of the strength of feeling. He may well see the season out and keep the club up in the process but does anyone have confidence that he could change things for the better next season given it’s all been going slowly downhill since November 2020.

He. Is here until the summer

I don’t agree.

Having been on the run we have been and he still here what do you think will do for him before summer?

Excuses ran out two games ago. Many more defeats in the next three and I still expect him to go.

If we get less than 4 points from the next 3 or he loses to Posh without 2 wins I think he goes. If he doesn't we know for certain he's here to the end come what may.

I've been pretty consistently saying the same for a while.

Fulham was a possibility.
QPR was a possibility.

But Fulham had injury excuses and relatively short poor form

QPR still had lingering injury excuses

By Peterborough the form will be very firmly established, the excuses gone and a key game against a rival chasing us lost. At that point there simply is no generosity or excuses to explain the lack of decision other than he's staying.

That isn't really true until then. Everyone said Stam had to go after Burton and if he didn't he never would. He still went though.

Not to mention the manager himself said early January time that he'd expect February to be the month where we can begin to kick on and see improved results. Whilst that doesn't excuse results and performances for January, there may have been conversations between the board where he's said that he needs to get through to February as players return, regain match fitness, Covid not being an issue etc that will all have been mitigating factors throughout January that would be severely reduced this month.

The book will eventually stop somewhere if the current form continues. Peterborough could quite likely be the final straw should we suffer a defeat in our next 2 games and then lose that as well.

There is no way he is here next season, he is working out his contract then we part ways. Worst of all worlds really and a situation I hoped we wouldn't find ourselves in but here we are.

I think Posh will win tonight. If they do and we don't, I can see them sacking Pauno to try and nip this protest in the bud.

If we don't pick up in the next 3 games, then he will be right else we have to accept that the club are pretty much accepting relegation or hoping for a miraculous change of form.

Whilst the performances have been beyond poor, there were mitigating circumstances in Jan in terms of personnel out through injury/AFCON and contracts expiring. For 3 of those games, our full backs were either young and inexperienced or a midfielder. We had one fit centre back and a number of players finding their way back after Covid. We then lost the striker who lifted the place a bit when he arrived. All this whilst facing 5 opponents currently in the top 8.

Whilst I don't agree fully with the decision not to replace him, I get why they haven't (even taking finance out of it) but if this form continues, we will be in the bottom 3 next week, then he goes - if we stay out then job will be done.

If that was to be the case then it may end up being a blessing in disguise on the surface, providing our form improves because of a change. It's not a given, but at least it's some sort of direct change that we'd expect to influence the team.

if we lose tonight our form at least can't get worse. You can't really go down further from 0 points in 6 games. Just extend it.

If Derby don`t find a buyer it won`t matter if they finish above us..providing of course we finish 3rd bottom.

There is no chance of Derby being liquidated. They will be fine.

Yep. They will be saved, too big of a club with too much potential to die. Someone will come in and save them, have no doubt about it.

I'd say draw or away win would be best, assuming we don't lose at Peterboro.
