SouthDownsRoyal Snowflake Royal SouthDownsRoyal We have been saying for weeks if X happens he will go and here we are saying the same for the coming weeks before too long there will hardly be any games left
I've been pretty consistently saying the same for a while.
Fulham was a possibility.
QPR was a possibility.
But Fulham had injury excuses and relatively short poor form
QPR still had lingering injury excuses
By Peterborough the form will be very firmly established, the excuses gone and a key game against a rival chasing us lost. At that point there simply is no generosity or excuses to explain the lack of decision other than he's staying.
That isn't really true until then. Everyone said Stam had to go after Burton and if he didn't he never would. He still went though.
Hope you’re right,
If we don't pick up in the next 3 games, then he will be right else we have to accept that the club are pretty much accepting relegation or hoping for a miraculous change of form.
Whilst the performances have been beyond poor, there were mitigating circumstances in Jan in terms of personnel out through injury/AFCON and contracts expiring. For 3 of those games, our full backs were either young and inexperienced or a midfielder. We had one fit centre back and a number of players finding their way back after Covid. We then lost the striker who lifted the place a bit when he arrived. All this whilst facing 5 opponents currently in the top 8.
Whilst I don't agree fully with the decision not to replace him, I get why they haven't (even taking finance out of it) but if this form continues, we will be in the bottom 3 next week, then he goes - if we stay out then job will be done.
