Snowflake Royal I'd say of those still contracted - Moore, Meite, Joao, Puscas, Ejaria, McIntyre, Dann and Tetek

We're probably looking at between £4.5m and £7m.

Leaving between £9m and £12.5m to spend on wages for the other ~17 players we'll need. Or £10k - £13.5k each, ignoring any academy players, staff etc.

The bulk of our wages are taken up by the first 5 players mentioned. Even those who are on roughly £15k a week, a pretty good wage at this level, probably represent about 1.5 players for us (so our typical player "should" earn around £10k a week roughly in my opinion) and most of them don't perform to that capability, only really Joao and Meite who justify the wages they earn. Moore certainly doesn't, Ejaria doesn't and nor does Puscas.

Aaron Lennon joins the free list. Might do for a season and would probably like to be back down South.

Dunno he’s pretty northern isn’t he?

Apparently some northern chaps actually prefer it up there as well

A bit more info on JT:

Reading are trying to snap up centre half Jack Tucker from Gillingham - within their EFL signing restrictions.

Got young poty and poty for Gillingham last season by looks of it

Good experience at L1 for his age, just been relegated, but one of the better defensive records at the bottom.

If he has some pace, this seems sensible. Hull were interested a few weeks ago.

86 league starts in the last two seasons, so no sign of injury proneness. Stats look decent, though his pass completion isn't great.

Think he pops up a bit in a Gils vs Wycombe highlights package on youtube. Including a rather tasty goal.

Josh Murphy is available on a free. Didn't we try to sign him a while back? Has been disappointing since Cardiff paid £11m for him, but something to prove without the pressure of a big transfer free on his back.

I think this rumour appeared middle of last season as well? Remember looking him up previously

If so, it might have some legs

Considering the amount of players Chelsea loan out, I think this is a good Twitter thread of potential loan players based on their previous season's performance.

Yes he's been linked in the last 2 summer windows now.

If true, I quite like this, it shows consistency in recruitment which is something I'll always praise a club for. It shows that we've identified that specific player to come into a certain position and it shows we've got a place for him and his skillset in our squad. I have praised Forest for the same thing with Holmes, again, if true and not just a recycled rumour from 10 months previous.

I'd take him to be honest. I can't imagine he would light up the Championship but, similar to Ince and Hoilett, you'll get a good work ethic and will be able to pop up with some important contributions.

To be honest, it's getting to the point that I'd take anybody - pre-season is officially due to start on Monday - not going to be doing much more than just fitness work with 9 players (and Academy) available.

This is the week, I expect us to start to be publically busy. At worst, you'd think we want the bulk of the squad in place before they head to St George's Park.

I'd imagine that would be the case, there isn't a great deal we can do at the moment with really loan signings being our only option as most players won't be able to join up with the first team squad until their contracts at their current clubs expire, unless we are given permission for them to train with us, that's if we agree a deal for any ooc players before they are officially released.

It is understood Middlesbrough goalkeeper Joe Lumley is expected to sign for Royals later this week after nearly a month of talks between the two clubs. The 27-year-old will join Ince's side on a season-long loan deal and is expected to become Reading 's new no.1 for the upcoming 2022/23 Championship season.

Meanwhile, another player linked with Reading over the weekend, Jack Tucker, is not expected to sign for the club.
The 22-year-old Gillingham defender, who is set to become a free agent at the start of July, was a target for Royals but it is understood the two clubs* could not agree on a suitable financial package.

[* This is a JLow story and as such is wrong - should probably read Reading and the player's representative if JT is out of contract]

He is 22. Therefore we would have to pay Gillingham some form of compensation to sign him, as we would with all under 24 year olds.

I would imagine we have tried to negotiate that we would pay any compensation in July '23, or a very small amount up front if allowed.

It's another issue we have to contend with meaning we are realistically looking at loans and free agents over 24.

Bah, Where's your commitment, you should always be ready to shoot down any signing.

I think we'll be lucky to get more than a couple of bodies confirmed before July.

I would expect a bunch of the ooc players to train with us until they find new clubs / make their mind up and sign tho.
