Hound Extended-Phenotype Snowflake Royal Think our two best performances were Lincoln and Wycombe, Elliott started both.. giving us a properly balanced midfield.
Which does make it pretty bonkers that Hunt chose Fraser, completely throwing things off, for the intervening 3.
If we'd played like that against Bolton and Wimbledon we'd have dicked them.
We aren’t always privy to what informs a managers selection. Had to be a reason - Hunt wants the best 11 on the pitch just as much as we do. He sees what we see, but sees a lot more behind the scenes we don’t. It’s an odd one, but rarely are decisions as stupid as they look when you are only looking at half the picture.
Is true of course but his job is to make the right decisions based on what he’s seen, and I’d suggest he hasn’t done that by his constant chopping and changing.
And I guess those most successful managers are the ones that are able to consistently make the right decisions based on that extra info they have
Anyway happy that we played a lot better. That was very impt after the last two horror shows. Certainly something to build on and hopefully the first 11 is starting to shape up
Yeh, though when you have a new team of players you are going to need to try things and change them when they don’t work. Seems half his detractors are critical of him changing stuff and the other half for not changing things enough. Shrug, I think his trial and error has been reasonable. I still don’t quite get the Elliot/Fraser thing (to the point I wonder if something else was going on - fitness, attitude, potential sale etc), though perhaps it was simply a case of seeing what the new guy was made of. But other than that, I can see why our team sheet has looked the way it has, even if I haven’t entirely agreed with it.
