RG30 What was the last season we had a home Boxing Day fixture? Feels like it's been at least 7 or 8 years?

26th December 2020 v Luton was the last time, which actually didn't have any fans. Time before that was 26th December 2019 v QPR.

So a 4 year gap (5 with fans) between home Boxing Day fixtures, as we'll be welcoming Northampton Town to the Stadium of Noise this year.

But that itself has only been 3 (4) seasons, as there were no Boxing Day fixtures 2021/22 season due to the World Cup.

Came across an interesting* site on YouTube, called Retro Football Club, and a video they posted giving the league positions of every one of the 92 current Premier League and EFL teams based on their highest ever position.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thuA_0a_49g

Our Premier League 7th place in 2006/07 gives us a ranking of 46th; exactly half way.

Harvey Knibbs is the first Reading player to score 15+ goals in back-to-back seasons in 19 years (since Dave Kitson, 2004/05 & 2005/06).

Billy Bowden was the first player this season to come off the bench and score for us. In our history we have never gone a season when a sub has not scored.

in the last 3 seasons lewis wing has scored 26 goals in league 18 have been from outside the box
Nobody in Europe's top 5 divisions or England's top 3 tiers have scored more goals from outside the box (6) this season than Lewis wing

36 years, 17 days - Matt Ritchie is the oldest player to assist a goal for Reading since assist data is available (03/04)

Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan played his 100th game for Reading at the weekend.

Just the 11th Academy graduate to hit that milestone

Also another milestone was reached the previous week, Andre Garcia reached 50 appearances for Reading aged just 17

By far the youngest player to do so in the modern era (Olise next youngest aged 19)

And I believe the other 10 are:
  1. Holmes
  2. Feds
  3. Long (Shane)
  4. HRK
  5. Church
  6. Pearce
  7. Obita
  8. Karacan
  9. Rinomhota
  10. McIntyre

Abrefa, Garcia and Camara are fighting to produce the next player to reach “ 100 for Reading”.

Note, there are a ton of others (eg. Lovell, Taylor, Williams) that reached 100+ before the club had an “Academy”.

If you multiply this year (2025) by when we were founded (1871) and then square root the result you interestingly get 1946, which just so happens to be the year of our biggest ever league win (10-2 against Crystal Palace).

Yes true, 1946.478 or so.

But close enough to be undoubtedly the best stat of the thread, if not the best stat ever posted on HNA, if not the best thing ever posted on HNA, or indeed anywhere for that matter.

9th October 1993 - Exeter City 4 (Jepson 2, Ross 2) Reading 6 (Lovell 2, Taylor 2, Quinn 2). Only league game in history where five different players each scored two goals.
