I don't expect LR to fix overnight. It seems like over the summer we signed a collection of decent players but without a coherent strategy, and have no real playing style or identity. Hunt bears some responsibility; a manager should be saying the profile of player he wants, with more criteria than just "good lads".

Hopefully LR can already see what he needs to shape his team and will give suitable instructions to Carey and JJ so we can move quickly in January. We're probably only 2 or 3 roles away from it coming together; most obviously CF. Then we can see genuine improvement.

Just curious but do we know what's up with Burns since we haven't seen him for a few weeks.

Likewise, what is Lane's injury and was Jacob left out by the manager or injured?

Jacob has a minor injury and shouldn’t be out long.

Burns injury was never revealed, last I saw was it was “undefined” and Burns would be out for an undefined period, so just him and Fraser with that then

Paddy Lane had a serious knee injury at the beginning of the year that kept him out of Pompey’s season and seems he’s getting minor niggles since moving to Reading. Belief is he is injured again after being subbed v Carlisle.

The sensible answer is not really sure. Been no sight of either him or Jacob. Murmurs of an injury to both but nothing confirmed

Did Lane pick up a knock against Stevenage? He did start that game iirc

May be some chance with Burns/Jacob some sort of additional payment after x number of games as well. Either way fair chance they’re both going back in Jan

I mean, it's not that not sensible. Yeah, sure, a bit hyperbolic. But he hasn't played a minute since Cardiff, certainly wasn't dropped through injury because he was an unused sub against Northampton, and has been poor, at fault in plenty of goals.

He's a loanee who is certainly behind the two clear standout CBs in O'Connor and Williams, arguably should be behind Dorsett too. He's less versatile than Dorsett (and Jacob and Yiadom). So he just doesn't really have a place in the squad any more.

We were more solid defensively. That may be down to an emerging Williams / O'Connor partnership now they're both available than any tactical tweaks.

Other than that, I personally didn't see anything different from a Hunt side. With a full two weeks I expected to see something.

Perhaps the task is bigger than I had imagined to turn this team around. Obviously Richardson needs to be given time. Maybe the extra Heineken I had made more more critical than usual. But for me there was next to no sign of his having made any improvement.

In his post match interview he LR said he`s had 8 days with the players, make of that what you will.

In the same interview, the interviewer said it was 16 days since the last game. We played Stevenage on the 6th, and Rotherham on the 23rd.

I guess they must have taken quite a few days off.
