Why are the fixtures added like this, why aren’t they all scheduled during the close season ?

I suspect that there are so many cup competitions- some clubs have 4 that it’s easier for the Fixture Secretary( think he is from Woodley FC) to do it this way.

Just seems odd, why isn’t the league defining the fixtures and the secretaries working the localish cup stuff within that framework, should be no different from non-league and teams management would have better idea what to expect each month earlier. Also reduces their overhead as the unpaid volunteers they likely are.

And really, 4 cup competitions(!) is that really necessary, a league and national cup yes but, like with non league, do clubs/players really need additional cups and the stress that always brings ?

I suspect it's because each division in the league is made up of relatively few teams. Without cups, there would only be 20 games over the course of a full season.

I'm not sure who you feel gets stressed by cup competitions? Surely not the players themselves?

If you're playing a league campaign, while holding down a day job and facing last minute treks to play additional games I'd say that causes a certain amount of both mental and physical stress to players who are not athletes like their professional counterparts.

Is it any different to a lot of men's non-league teams, with the FA Cup, FA Trophy, FA Vase, county cup, and perhaps cups organised by their respective leagues?

No it’s not different and they also can get forced into playing n games in n+1 days, which really is stupid.

I would rather they moved toward larger divisions so the league games are there but from what I understand it’s an uncommon problem for the ladies to have several gaps within their “league season” even up to the higher levels. Perhaps there should be a review and reorganisation of the leagues in some manner to try and get things a bit more consistent.
