Club to be sold again ?

by Crusader Royal » 10 Feb 2026 14:38

Chronicle headline says investors have approached the club with a view to buying. No further details. Presumably if there’s a profit in it the current owners woukd be interested in selling.
But how has value been added such that someone who wasn’t interested a short while ago now fancies paying more for us ?
Does this have legs ?

Rather weird bit of what looks to be, at this moment, just clickbait from Ramy - literally the article has one sentence that says just that and a photo of Rob and his board

Presume some further detail will follow but why post anything if that’s all you’ve got as you know people will want more? Or is it just a race to break the news first ?

To be fair, a quick google reveals this interview as a possible source

Shock horror

There have been snippets on Twitter all day - an example:

Rick Catania on offers for #ReadingFC:

“We've been getting approached to buy anything from a share to the club outright and with that serious offers are looked at, but we're enjoying the process and we're not done yet.”

Taken from an interview with Greatest Hits Radio that's been up on Twitter since first thing this morning

Seems the Chronicle is jumping on the bandwagon

So a load of nothing really, should really have picked up and “quoted” that source more fully in the article - or perhaps his source is simply just different and less detailed.

I suspect that there were probably quite a few people interested in the club when it was first up for sale but that they didn't fancy inheriting the shitshow that Dai & Pang had created.

If Rob Couhig and co have already managed to deal with, and dispose of, all of the skeletons that were in the cupboards, whilst ensuring that Dai has no potential legal claims over anything associated with the club, then the potential value of the club may already be a fair bit greater than it was before RC took control. Therefore there could already be a potential quick profit to be made were RC & co interested in securing it.

I do think they'll look to maximise their investment which to me, means getting promoted to the Championship at a minimum before selling us on.

Phase one of selling something is to make it seem desirable and for people think it’s worth more than it is.

Which is incredibly easy to do; you simply say a nameless/faceless/nonexistent person is already keen to buy it.

Would also be a good tactic to use if you wanted to convince people you had made something better, even if their experience was somewhat different. :?

Rob made it clear that they would sell on eventually and we would be in a healthier position when he moves on, and won`t make a dogs ear of it like Dai did.

They might change their view/strategy on that when they realise just how difficult it is to get out of this horrible league!

All well and good if we’re sold again so soon they must be doing something right. Just hope whoever does finally come along at some point has the same attitude to the club as RC (but along with loads of money - and a TV channel :D )

This is what I expect: promotion before selling. Although the relative demand behind the scenes may be why they were willing to spend as much as they did in January.
