Flicking through the channels earlier and stopped on UKTV Gold2 as 'They Think Its All Over' was on.

In the celebration round they showed pictures of half empty East Stand waving PANTS around as Wrexham scored their two goals.

What a contrast. I know there have been lots of 'we've come a long way' threads of late but this clip really did awaken me to just how things have changed.

In those days, you could turn up 5 mins before kick off and wander into the middle of the East Stand and select a seat on the half way line with acres of empty seating around you.

And there used to be great banter with the 50 fans in the away end, no queues at the food concessions and who can remember the great Mates Day when I brought two mates along to a 10.000 crowd, rain poured down and we lost in a truly awful match which meant the two mates stayed away for years?

No drummer, no Tom Hanks, a quite different Kingsley and never a problem getting a ticket, home or away. Royalty points!! Who needed them?

The newbie was introduced at half time on the first home game of the season, was it Rotherham a few years back?

Ironically I missed that game being away at a summer festival, so I never got to see the vetrans final departure...

According to Meridan the other night, and let's face it they know all about RFC, there will be a new bigger Kingsley for the new season. Presumably that will it make harder for Murts and co to jump on him when we score (if we score?).

The thread about the low points at the Mad Stad a few months ago, reminded me of this match as it came shortly after the Scunthorpe game. I'll never forget a mate at school just cracking up in front of me when he saw it on TTIAO. Even though I already knew that it was going to be on the show, I still almost died of embarassment. But its funny thinking back now looking back.

On another note I remember the attendances being the norm at the time, but they are made to look even more abysmal now.

I don't think anyone on here has said they want to go back to those days. Just looking back and seeing how far we've come that's all. I look back on days past with fondness of some things, but that doesn't mean I want them back. I sometimes think back to my first car with fond memories (an old beat up mini with holes in the floor), but I don't want it back.
