Zurab

by royalsroyalsroyals92 » 30 May 2011 21:19

This guys been top class for us between the Norwich match and today... and even though his performance, in my opinion, was pretty poor today... okay near awful! I would love to see him back in a Reading shirt next season... and Im shocked at some posts ive read that would suggest we now get rid.
Opinions?

Lacks pace but if we can bring him in on the cheap we should!

If he wants PL wages then "no". However, if he is willing to accept a big wage cut the club should definitely offer him a deal.

Frankly I doubt he will stay.

Class player, would definately retain him if affordable.

Terrible performance but definitely should still try to get him back here for the upcoming season. One bad (really bad) game doesnt mean he's a bad player. Has been a very useful player in his time here.

Made far too many costly mistakes this season, which combined with cynical Mills isn't a great combination.

He's a very good player, but I'm not convinced he's the one we need.

No player should be judged on one game, especially not one of this magnitude. The bottom line is he has played very very well almost all season and I think he should be signed permanently.

Yep, our results have been shocking since these two were paired up.

I'd sign him up if only because I don't think Mills and Pearce work THAT well as a combination. We've scored more goals with him in the team and despite the odd mistake it's good to have someone who's comfortable on the ball in our back four.

Don't know how he feels about a third season in the Championship but hopefully he likes the club and will sign a 1 year deal laden with bonuses based on appearances/promotion etc and an agreement that if a bigger club comes in during Jan we'd let him go.

He's good when we have our backs to the wall and counter-attack. Today was a reverse of that with us on the front foot for most the game he really struggled, as he did against Watford last season and a few other games that have caused me to raise serious eyebrows.

Sometimes he has been amazing for us and I wouldn't be disappointed to see him sign but I prefer to start with Pearce personally.

Not the point really is it... we want to go from not quite good enough, to good enough, not stay where we are. They've both made costly mistakes far too frequently this season, virtually every other game from both IMO.

I can only suggest you look at the results since Kish can into the side compared to those before. Demonstrably, there have not been frequent costly mistakes.

The results may be a different matter, but then that's down to the whole team, not just the centre of defence.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's shit, that's quite clear from my post I think. But he has cost us plenty of goals this season, as has Mills. Personally I'd rather have Zurab and get shot of Mills.

Personally I think that it is massively important that we can retain Mills. Zurab really was poor today but I agree we should offer him a deal within our wage structure and he can either take it or leave it, I can't see him agreeing though.

I'm quite excited about Morrison coming through next year and i rate Pearce but one more centre back (with pace!) is a must assuming that ingi and zurab are no longer with us.

Whatever money we get for players we should go and Get Ryan Betrand back.
Appreciated Hartes goals this season but not really up to it defensively. Griff is 100% effort but just too slow.
Betrand and Cummings as full backs would seem a good way to go.
Millsy might be off as well by all accounts so im guessing Morrison and Pearce in the middle.

Mills will go - Zurab won't sign

We need another centre half to back Pearce and Morrison up
